Reading

I read and very much enjoyed two books recently: Emma Holly’s All U Can Eat and Kelley Armstrong’s Exit Strategy.

Anyway, totally different books. The first is chock full of sex, thoroughly enjoyable, nice character development (during sex) and totally appealing characters. I need to pick up Fairyville. While Menage may still be my favorite Holly, All U Can Eat was the perfect read for me last week.

I just love the title Exit Strategy. I found it a compelling read. Lots of unresolved sexual tension. Not a romance. Lots of action. Well paced and interesting. I liked the heroine’s backstory and how everything was not spelled out. I’ll be picking up the second book in this series. As well, I am going to return to her Bitten series.

Just so you know, the heroine is an assassin. Some people have trouble with the morals involved in that kind of premise and I can see that. But I think there’s a bit of fantasy thing going on there where in fiction the “good” assassin is the one who eliminates evil in a direct and satisfying way. It’s a little less complicated than real life (well, all fiction is) and I enjoy it, though the assassin hero/heroine needs a careful hand, I think.

Doctor Who, series one

Okay, so I may be the last person on earth to have ever watched any Doctor Who. But that has now changed. I saw some episodes of the first season of the new series, with Christopher Eccleston. Why did I only see some? Because some members of my family insist on watching them all in a row and I can’t watch straight TV that way. So I saw the first two episodes. They were okay, a bit sillier than I’d hoped. But I got roped back in when Captain Jack appeared and saw most of the last four or five episodes.

So, question, are there any not-to-be-missed episodes in season one of the revived Doctor Who?

I was quite surprised, I have to admit, that there’s a new actor for Doctor Who. I had grown fond of Christopher Eccleston. Ah, well.

Anyway, verdict: really liked show, will watch more, though not ten episodes a day!
