All About Samhain

This week from Samhain:

Best sellers at My Bookstore and More:

1. Talons: King of Prey by Mandy M. Roth
2. Seeing Eye Mate by Annmarie McKenna
3. Without Reservations by J. L. Langley

All four Talons releases are on the list. Talons: Caged Desire is new, as are Strip Tease and Reluctant Muse.

Recent reads

I’ve read a number of good books lately and I thought I’d touch on them.

  • Mystic and Rider Sharon Shinn. I loved the characters, enjoyed the world. Found the story itself progressed a little too slowly for my taste. But I’m sure I’ll pick up more Shinn. Really liked the understated romance. Jane of Dear Author gave it an A.
  • Without Reservations JL Langley. Loved! Didn’t want to put it down. It’s male/male romance and if you’re only dipping a toe in that pool, this is a good one to start with. Nice characterization and a very straightforward love story, with heroes as wolves.
  • Enforcer Lauren Dane. Loved Lauren’s voice. Very engaging and a lot of fun. Hot sex. Werewolves and packs and their rules. And characters I liked spending time with.
  • Kiss Me Deadly Shannon Stacey. Who can resist a raven shapeshifter? And I loved the heroine and her humor. Excellent novella that kicks off the Talons series.

By the way, both Without Reservations and Kiss Me Deadly are on the best seller list at My Bookstore and More.

And yes, all four books have shapeshifters, though they’re less prominent in Mystic and Rider.

All About Samhain

This week from Samhain:

Best sellers at My Bookstore and More:

1. Colters’ Woman by Maya Banks
2. Talons: King of Prey by Mandy M. Roth
3. Talons: Kiss Me Deadly by Shannon Stacey

Top three the same as last week. Talons: Firebird made it into the top ten.

Lost 1.8

The entire family is now hooked on Lost. Good acting, good storytelling, interesting characters.

Quibbles:
1. Why are the men so much more interesting than the women? Even Kate mostly follows, though her backstory is exciting.
2. I really hope Sawyer is not the only guy to get romance. Admittedly, the way they did his backstory was good, loved the twist. But, well, what can I say, I’m not a huge bad boy fan. Whereas Jack, Sayid…

I know, many episodes yet to travel.

Release Dates

I’ve got two release dates for my werewolf books! Yay!

June 19, 2007. The Strength of the Pack. Seth’s story.
September 4, 2007. The Strength of the Wolf. Veronica’s story.

I’m so glad to have them out within three months of each other. This will mean, I believe, print releases in September and December.

Lost 1.1

So, I watched the very first episode of Lost—I know, I am behind the times—where Doctor Jack is the main guy. And very nice looking. (I hadn’t heard of Jack, only Sawyer, Sayeed and Merriodoc Brandybuck.)

Why was I expecting action-adventure, instead of horror? Don’t ask me.

Does it get better?

All About Samhain

This week from Samhain:

While I’m a fan of Samhain covers in general, I have to say the four covers this week are particularly striking, with their contrasting colors and images.

Sales:

Best sellers at My Bookstore and More:

1. Colters’ Woman by Maya Banks
2. Talons: King of Prey by Mandy M. Roth
3. Talons: Kiss Me Deadly by Shannon Stacey

Colters’ Woman is holding at number 1. The Talons series is going strong, with King of Prey just released last week. Also from last week, Without Reservations and Teaching Elena made it onto the list. Oh, and Mandy M. Roth has two books on the list!

Galley

I have received my first book galley. I’m reading through Haven again before it goes to print. I find it a bit hard reading a book of mine that has been published. But of course I want to find if there are any mistakes I missed earlier. I hope not.

In wip news, I pretty much figured out the backstory. Now I’m concerned I’m closing down the story at the 2/3′s mark when I need to open it up. Oh well, just keep writing. (Cue Dory from Finding Nemo.)

But first: proof Haven.

!

I am very much enjoying this book.

But! There are too many! Exclamation marks! Even when someone murmurs!

However, if one must choose between exclamation mark restraint or storytelling ability, I’ll choose the latter. After all, I am a Georgette Heyer fan. (Still would prefer fewer !!!!s)
